The Arlen C. Mills Education Scholarship is an award given in recognition of the contributions of Arlen Mills, MAI, SRA.
Mr. Mills has been a member of the Northern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute over 40 years and the Society of Real Estate Appraisers before that. Additionally, Mr. Mills has been an instructor of appraisal courses and seminars for the national Appraisal Institute and the Northern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute for over 38 years, authored numerous appraisal texts, guidebooks and articles, authored numerous appraisal seminars and courses.
This award shall be given annually to a member, associate member or affiliate member of the Northern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. The recipient is selected by the chapter’s Education Committee each September, with the award presented at the annual Fall Conference.
Recipients shall be selected based on criteria including but not limited to need, desire or contribution of time and volunteer work to the chapter. The scholarship funds are to be utilized by a deserving student to attend a nationally developed course sponsored by the Northern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Ashley Jordan
Ashley is a 2024 Fall Conference Committee Member. In addition to volunteering with the Chapter, she has also done outreach to students at Santa Clara University about the benefits of becoming a real estate appraiser.
Ashley is currently employed as a Real Estate Analyst with Valbridge Property Advisors in San Jose. She recently earned her Certified General License.
Norm Hulberg, MAI, Managing Director of Valbridge Property Advisors, remarked “Ashley’s knowledge and wisdom are well beyond her years.”
